Who is this AJ?

Hello out there, fellow book lovers. You may have noticed my name and face on the sidebar here at Ravenous For Reads, and you may have been wondering who I am. So I thought I would take a quick moment to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my reading habits.

About Me

I moved to the Seattle area from Arizona in 2016. I work in social media. I have two corgis, two cats, and one awesome partner. And I read a lot. A lot a lot a lot. Although I love physical books, the realities of cross-country moves and apartment living means that I mostly read digital these days. I still really enjoy visiting actual bookstores though, and buying physical copies of especially interesting books. I’m exited to be joining Ravenous for Reads as a guest blogger so I can share my love of reading with more people.

Let's Talk Books!

What I’m Currently Reading

At any given time I usually have one fiction novel and one non-fiction book that I’m reading my way through, and sometimes an anthology on the side. My current fiction read is The Devourers by Indra Das, and my current non-fiction is A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn.

The Best Book I’ve Read This Year

I’ve read a lot of great books in 2017, but N. K. Jemisin’s The Stone Sky just blew me away. I’ve rarely read such a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy.

The Worst Book I’ve Read This Year

Definitely Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow. I couldn’t even finish it, and I finish almost every book I start.

The Book I’m Most Excited To Read in 2018

The Girl in the Tower, by Katherine Arden. The first book in this series took a bit to find its footing, but now I am really eager to find out what happens next.

My Embarrassing Reading Habit

I like to take books with me if I go out to eat alone. Unfortunately I have a bad habit of doing this when I’m just finishing a book, which means I’m reading the most emotional parts while out in public… and I start crying like a baby! I always want to tell the people around me “It’s fine! This is just a really good book!” but I worry that might make it even more awkward.

And that’s basically me in a nutshell! I’ll be posting here every Wednesday, so please come back next week for a review of The Devourers.
